DigitalDay Supports Pediatric Stroke Awareness Month

Cuyahoga Falls, OH – May 31, 2012 -The DigitalDay team showed support for Pediatric Stroke Awareness Month and team member Ryan Perry’s daughter, Madelyn, by sporting “I support Madelyn” t-shirts outside the DigitalDay office Tuesday, May 29.

Two-year-old Madelyn Perry had a stroke around the time of her birth, prompting the Perry family to raise awareness of pediatric stroke by lobbying the Ohio government. In February 2012, the Perrys read their testimony publicly, and Ohio declared May Pediatric Stroke Awareness Month.

DigitalDay team member Ryan says that there is not a lot of research currently being done about pediatric stroke. Raising awareness of the condition helps parents to recognize the signs and symptoms of pediatric stroke so they can get help and start early intervention therapy quickly.

Today, Madelyn is a healthy toddler who will be turning three in September. She takes physical and occupational therapy and dance classes several times a week to help stretch the muscles on the right side of her body that were affected by the stroke.

Proceeds from the “I support Madelyn” t-shirts worn by the DigitalDay team went to the Children’s Hemipelegia and Stroke Association (CHASA), a nonprofit organization that supports families and children who have been affected by pediatric stroke. For more information about pediatric stroke or to donate, visit chasa.org.

DigitalDay is a full-service online marketing agency serving national and regional marketers in website and mobile strategy, design and development, online promotions, email marketing, search and social media optimization, application development and hosting.

European TAAN Meeting Report: Reykjavik 2008

October 11, 2008 Leave a comment

I traveled to the “Land of Fire and Ice” last week to represent DigitalDay as the only U.S. agency at the recent European Transworld Advertising Association Network (TAAN) Meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland October 2 — 5, 2008.

This European TAAN Meeting was well-attended with agency principals from Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Scotland, Sweden, Turkey and the host agency ENNEMM of Iceland.

Highlights from the meeting included:

TAAN as a Global Network: Peter Gerritsen, TAAN’s President, led the discussion on how the TAAN member agencies can best harness our global capabilities to deliver value to each of our clients. Through our relationships in Europe, Asia, Africa and both Americas, we can offer clients coordinated local market support “above and below the line.”

The New IcelandAir: Helgi Björgvinsson, CMO of IcelandAir, treated the group to an inside look at how this innovative, global marketer positions itself in the highly competitive airline industry market. The presentation included a peek at IcelandAir’s new advertising campaign which has yet to be released to the public.

The Art of New Business: Morgan Shorey, Director of New Business for BERLIN CAMERON United and a lifelong new business specialist, presented a seminar on her new business approach and creative ideas on how to improve new business efforts. Interestingly, many of the European agency owners felt her tactics were “too American, too hard-sell” whereas I found her approach creative and personable.

The Outing: On Saturday afternoon, the TAAN members boarded a fleet of 4-wheel vehicles for a guided adventure tour of Southwest Iceland. We sampled dried fish chips at an outdoor fish drying rack, hiked through the lava fields to descend into a lava cave, drank schnapps on a black sand beach and ended the evening with a traditional lobster dinner in the seaside town of Stokkseyri.

In addition to the valuable business meetings, I was able to build stronger relationships with all of the European agency principals — relationships that will help both DigitalDay and our clients. I also had the opportunity to spend some free time exploring Iceland. The following are some photos from this once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Tracking Global Visitors for TAAN.org

Check out the new Global Visitors Map widget on the TAAN.org Home page.

Our DigitalDay programmers just now embedded this into the site we designed, developed and maintain for our colleagues in the Transworld Advertising Agency Network (TAAN). The map shows a quick snapshot of real-time and recent visitors to the TAAN site. If you click the small, green question mark below the widget (which we were unable to style), you’ll see a larger view of the map with city/country visitor information.

This idea came from TAAN president Peter Gerritsen, inspired by The Duffy Agency’s Sean Duffy. After visiting Brand Rants, Sean’ blog, Pete shot me an email yesterday asking if we could embed the FEEDJIT Recent Visitors widget Sean uses into the TAAN site.

We took a look at it, played with it and then found a different widget from maps.amung.us that provided a little more functionality and fit the TAAN.org brand a little better.

As I’m writing this blog, I just saw the third visitor pop in from Valenciana, Spain — very cool. Nacho, is that you?

Pete envisions keeping this “twitter-like” map up all day so he can try and guess who’s popping into the site and from where. It should also show site visitors the kind of global activity and interest the site draws, like another recent visitor just now from Spring, Texas.

TAAN Social Network Site Launches to Connect Members Worldwide

DigitalDay, a relatively new member of TAAN, the Transworld Advertising Agency Network, and the only all-digital agency in the network raised it’s hand several months ago to help the organization create a new, updated web presence. The new TAAN site launched today.

According to Peter Gerritsen, TAAN President, “This site is for the members of this global organization, our clients, prospects, friends, and anyone interested in learning more about being better in this great industry.”

TAAN is as much a social network as it is a business association. The site was designed to mimic the social and sharing nature of TAAN. Not visible to the public is the TAAN Member Extranet where agency principals freely blog and exchange ideas in private — the core culture of TAAN.

Special thanks for this successful design, development and deployment go to Dan who beat and massaged SharePoint to make the site work, Adam who brought the design to life through CSS and his “really cool” navigation treatment, Ganbold for his Flash wizardry and all the rest of the DigitalDay staff who chipped in to help develop the best international advertising network site in its class.

Here’s a dramatic performance by Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise that should bring a smile to anyone who works in a creative agency.

Thanks for sharing, Peter.
